 This extended trip option is only available to active team members on the Kampala, Uganda January 2013 Medical Team.

 

Feb 2- Day 1: Travel from Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park

  • Stay in Queen Elizabeth National park at the Mweya Lodge

 

Feb 3-  Day 2:  

  • Morning boat ride on the Kazinga channel
  • Afternoon drive south through the park
  • Do the Kegeizi game reserve drive
  • Travel to and stay night at the Savannah Resort

  

Feb 4-  Day 3:

  •  Drive to Bwindi  through the day
  •  Arrive in afternoon and stay at the Buhoma Community cottages

Feb 5-  Day 4:  Select activity or activities from list below: (Stay at Buhoma Community Cottages)

       (The activities listed below are optional and not inluded in the trip base price)

  • Gorilla trek
  • Pygmy cultural experience
  • Impenetrable Forest Hike
  • Pygmy village walk

 

Feb 6-  Day 5:  Return to Kampala and fly home or stay a day and fly home the next day (Base Price has departure on this day)

 

Feb 7-  Day 6: To fly home after spending a relaxing night and day at the 5 star Imperial resort on Lake Victoria

Trip description:

            We will begin our journey from the Tick Hotel in Kawempe and travel the first day to Queen Elizabeth National Park.  We will visit the equator and Lake Mburo National Park on the way to Queen Elizabeth and then stay at the Mweya resort in the park. We will spend the night at the Mweya Resort. http://www.mweyalodge.com and eat dinner and breakfast there. 

Mweya Safari Lodge          

  In the morning, we will do the boat ride on the Kazinga Channel http://www.mweyalodge.com/activities/water-safari and then drive south through the park.  In the afternoon we will do a drive through the Kigezi game reserve and see more wildlife including lions lounging in the trees.  After that we drive to the luxurious Savannah Resort http://www.savannahresorthotel.com for dinner and a relaxing evening and sleep. 

Savannah Resort Hotel          

  The next morning we will have a relaxing breakfast and stroll around the resort before getting back in the van to drive to Bwindi.  We will arrive in Bwindi in the afternoon and check into the Buhoma Community Cottages. http://www.buhomacommunity.com/services.php The next day, there will be a choice of activities that you will choose ahead of time.  We will stay at Buhoma for one more night.
