Did you know that over the past seventeen years Project Helping Hands has:

• Sent over 650 volunteers overseas

Those volunteers have:

• Treated more than 50,000 patients
• Performed over 60 surgical procedures
• Pulled more than 30,000 teeth
• Fluoridated another 10,000 teeth
• Distributed more than 8,000 pairs of glasses
• Collected and distributed medical and pharmaceutical supplies totaling more than $2,225,000,000.00
  

All of these efforts are made possible by incredible generosity.  In 2009 for example, our volunteers donated approximately 29,000 hours to make these feats possible.  Nearly all of the medical and pharmaceutical supplies that are given to the less fortunate around the world by our volunteers are donated by pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, drug stores and other sponsors.   

Because Project Helping Hands is supported by volunteer hours and the donations of others, we are able to function on a very low overhead.  Yet, there are costs associated with running the organization.  Donated supplies must be stored and shipped.  Stationary supplies must be purchased.   Bank fees and liability insurance must be paid.  We rely on the generosity of our donors to help us pay for these incidental costs.   

Project Helping Hands is recognized by the Federal government of the United States as a 501c3 not-for-profit charity.  Donations over $25.00 will be receipted and can be deducted from income taxes as a charitable contribution. Here are some ways that you can donate towards the work of Project Helping Hands: 

• Help sponsor one the costs of one of our volunteers.  (If you want to sponsor a specific volunteer, please indicate the name of the volunteer along with your donation.)
• Donate money for a specific country or trip.  All funds donated in this way will be used to either buy pharmaceutical or medical supplies to be distributed by the team while in the country or will be used to assist with the medical needs of people encountered by our volunteers during clinics.  (If you would like to donate towards a specific trip or country, please indicate the country or trip along with your donation.  A 5% handling fee is deducted from all donations made for specific countries or trips).
• Contribute to the general fund.  Money donated to the general fund is used to cover costs such as the storage and shipment of supplies, purchasing additional medication or pharmaceutical supplies and other supportive functions of the organization.  (All donations which are not designated for a specific individual or project are applied to the general fund).
