Trip Details:

Team members will land in Monrovia, the capital city of Liberia. We will then travel by bus and vans to a Bomi County in the rural area of Liberia. The team will be based at the Liberian Government Hospital in Tubmenburg and will travel to the surrounding villages to set up clinics in the rural areas. The team will be staying in modest hospital housing, which will likely be without plumbing, but will have electricity most of the time.  Mattresses and fans will be provided.   Light clothing and rain gear are recommended. This is a beautiful tropical region, so expect hot and humid conditions.  The team will be arriving in Liberia at the beginning of the rainy season, so they can anticipate rainfall in the early evenings, but sunshine for the remainder of the day. Team members will be transported via bus and van to Monrovia on the final day of the trip to depart from the Roberts Field airport outside Monrovia.

Trip Description:

·         Amount of in-country travel: Moderate – team members will travel via bus, vans, and jeeps to rural clinic sites every day and return to sleeping quarters each night.

·         Sleeping arrangements: Team members will sleep on mattresses in the hospital housing. Some mattresses will be on the floors.   Bathrooms are available without plumbing.  Buckets for hauling water are available, and workers are available for hire to help with daily washing needs, if needed.

·         Running water/electricity: Running water pumped from central areas usually close by the sleeping quarters.  All water for drinking will be purchased in bottles or filtered. Electricity is intermittently available via generator at the sleeping quarters. Running water and electricity will likely not be available at clinic sites.
